Food 4 Less Negotiations Update

Updated: March 4, 2021

On Wednesday, March 3rd, Food 4 Less declined to meet with the Food 4 Less workers’ bargaining committee. After no progress the Federal mediator cancelled negotiations scheduled for Thursday. The company has not improved it’s offer and wants to put their unfair proposal to a vote.

The Company is only offering a 50 cent wage increase the first 2 years and a 55 cent wage increase the 3rd year for those at the top rate of pay. There is no wage increase offered for Utility Clerks and those in the wage progressions. The Company rejected our proposals:

  • Regarding hazardous conditions,
  • To offer full-time positions by seniority,
  • To include Food 4 Less workers in the same Scholarship program that Ralphs workers get,
  • A 4th week of vacation for workers hired after October 4th, 2004 and
  • To limit the use of Utility Clerks in a higher classification without proper pay and promotion.

It’s time for Food 4 Less workers to fight 4 more. The Company will not improve the offer unless they hear your voices demanding more. We must reject this offer and authorize a strike or other economic action to force the Company to improve this offer. A Strike Vote will not necessarily result in a strike, but it will allow the bargaining committee to return to negotiations with the power of all the workers behind them.

BEWARE: Store management will try to convince workers to accept this substandard offer so Kroger can make more profit. Kroger has earned BILLIONS in profit during this pandemic while workers have risked their health and their lives to feed their customers. Don’t believe the lies and rumors! It’s time for workers to join together and let Food 4 Less know that you deserve respect, better pay and a safe workplace.

VOTE TO REJECT THIS OFFER AND AUTHORIZE A STRIKE OR OTHER ECONOMIC ACTION IF NECESSARY. VOTE TIMES AND LOCATIONS WILL BE PROVIDED SOON.
